In my shoes...

I’ve stepped out my house for the last 16 years with the same shoes.

Now they’re worn out.

Just a quick glance, you can just see the outside damage.

But if you take a closer and longer look you’ll see all the darkness, despair, trials, tribulations, doubts, frustrations, violence, turbulence, fear, confessions, anguish, pain, joy and sorrow which they’ve been through.

Under my smile and under this skin, I hide my flaws; I hide my inner feelings and emotions. But I’m only humans so, where else am I going to hide my feelings if not within this shield.

And at the end of the day, what happened or what I’ve been through is my experience from life. As yesterday has died, tomorrow will be born. A new beginning starts each day, if that’s what you plan on achieving.

I have been faced with the same loneliness, I once faced previously. Something I thought would never come back again. Life is sometimes unexpected and unpredictable. Taking what it throws at you and doing nothing is not constructive.

But whatever life throws at me, I’ll catch it, keep it and use it to turn myself back around. I’ll be keeping positive and happy, no matter what.

I will not fear nor will I falter. I will smile and I will walk with my head held high. The wind blowing in my face...I’ve been here for so long I no longer care…

I no longer care for those who will bring me down, those who appear differently from what they say they are and those who are simply not there.

People say they have open minds, but they haven’t opened their hearts. That is when you find yourself thinking, they don’t really care about us. It’s not that they cannot care, it’s that they do not want to care.

If you hate me, then I love back! If you think you can hurt me, you don’t know me.  If you think you can take away my soul then, you have no goal. You have no life that’s why you’re giving attention to mine.

That does not mean you trample me and I will lay there like a door mat. No. I will not tolerate it and you’ll be the one left on the floor. I can fight my own battles. Don’t mistake my silence for my weakness.

I don’t say I know more than all, I say I know what I have been through. My experience means just that – they’re MINE! So, I wouldn’t expect you to understand...just perhaps to just be acknowledged if I’ve ever confided in you.

I’ve been taught to love, give all that I can give, to excel, to aspire and to become what I want to become.

From strength to strength I will and I just have to make it.

For so long, have I yearned to move forward but things happen and plans change. It’s a journey.

I know my destination is not far away from me now...

A bit more patience and endurance, I will reach it!

The day I walk out of my house with a pair of brand new shoes I will know that I’ve made it!

Until then I will ease on down the road and I will not carry anything that’ll be a load!

Yours,
